Excellence, Resilience, Heart and Growth

KAN’s three core values help shape expectations for how students approach learning and their school community.

  • Excellence

Students are encouraged to set the bar high, take responsibility for their work, and pursue ambitious goals.

Planning for the Future During Junior and Senior Year

As graduation gets closer, college and career preparation becomes increasingly specific.

Through College & Career Readiness 11, students explore educational and career pathways, complete interest assessments, consider their strengths and goals, prepare application materials, and begin developing a list of potential college or career options.

During senior year, students continue working with counselors and caregivers as they turn those plans into concrete next steps. Depending on the student’s goals, that can include applications, financial aid, interviews, college visits, employment preparation, or other postsecondary milestones.

The goal is for students to leave high school with more than a diploma. They should have a clearer understanding of where they want to go and what they’ll need to do next.

    Support That Continues After Graduation

Graduation doesn’t necessarily mean the end of a student’s relationship with KIPP.

KIPP Forward continues supporting alumni as they navigate their postsecondary paths. For alumni attending college, that can include help choosing courses, exploring majors, completing the FAFSA, and finding internships and career opportunities.

This continued guidance is an important part of KIPP Nashville’s connected K–12 and beyond pathway: helping students prepare for their next step and providing a support system as they begin navigating it.
