A Caring, Challenging Start at KIPP Kirkpatrick Elementary School

At KIPP Kirkpatrick Elementary School, students learn in a joyful, supportive environment where they are encouraged to ask questions, take risks, build confidence, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Located in the heart of East Nashville, KIPP Kirkpatrick is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades K–4. Our teachers and staff partner with students and families to build strong academic, character, and social foundations for the years ahead.

Learning With Curiosity, Confidence and Joy

Elementary school is where students begin developing the knowledge and learning habits they’ll carry into middle school, high school, and beyond.

At KIPP Kirkpatrick, classrooms are designed to encourage conversation, curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation. Students are challenged academically while receiving the guidance and support they need to keep growing.

Learning also extends beyond traditional academic subjects. Students have opportunities to participate in Music, Physical Education, and Mindfulness, creating space to move, create, reflect, and discover new interests.

The goal is a well-rounded elementary experience where students can develop academically while growing socially and personally.

A School Community Grounded in Love

KIPP Kirkpatrick’s mission is to positively impact students’ lives by creating a school grounded in love for students, families, and the surrounding community.

That mission comes to life through six school values:

  • Bravery

Students learn that growth sometimes requires taking a risk, trying something unfamiliar, or continuing even when they feel unsure.

  • Curiosity

Students are encouraged to ask questions, seek new knowledge, and develop a genuine desire to learn.

  • Joy

Learning should include opportunities to have fun, celebrate progress, and enjoy being part of the school community.

  • Love

Students learn what it means to care for others and treat members of their school community like family.

  • Patience

Growth takes time. Students are encouraged to give themselves and others room to learn, improve, and make mistakes along the way.

  • Integrity and Persistence

Students practice doing their best, continuing when something becomes challenging, and making good choices even when no one is watching.

Together, these values help create a school environment where academic learning and personal development reinforce one another.

Helping Every Student Grow

Every student arrives at school with different strengths, experiences, interests, and needs.

KIPP Kirkpatrick works to create classrooms where students are known and encouraged to grow. High expectations are paired with instruction and support designed to help students develop academically and socially.

Morning Meetings provide one example of how this happens throughout the school day. Students have opportunities to see social skills modeled and practice building relationships with classmates alongside their academic learning.

As Principal Tiffany Potter explains, Kirkpatrick’s work centers on student growth, high-quality instruction, affirming student identities, developing critical thinkers, and maintaining high expectations for the entire school community.

Continuing the KIPP Nashville Journey

KIPP Kirkpatrick can be the beginning of a longer KIPP Nashville educational experience.

KIPP Nashville serves students across grades K–12, giving families opportunities to explore KIPP middle and high schools as their children grow. The broader pathway is designed to support students as they develop greater academic independence, explore new interests, and eventually prepare for college, career, and the future they choose.

School availability and enrollment are not automatic when students transition between grade bands, so families should review their options and enrollment requirements as each transition approaches.
