Excellence
Students are encouraged to continually grow and pursue high standards in their learning and other areas of school life.

Middle school is a time when students begin asking bigger questions—about what they’re learning, who they are, and where their interests might take them.
At KIPP Antioch Global Middle School, students are encouraged to approach those questions with curiosity and confidence. Located in South Nashville, KIPP Antioch Global Middle is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades 5–8 at KIPP Nashville’s Global Campus.
Through rigorous academics, a strong focus on literacy, experiential learning, and a supportive school community, students can build the knowledge and skills they need for high school and the opportunities that follow.
KIPP Antioch Global Middle School opened in August 2024 with its founding fifth- and sixth-grade classes. Today, the school serves grades 5–8 as part of KIPP Nashville’s growing K–12 Global Campus at 917 Bell Road in Antioch.
From the beginning, the school was designed around several priorities: strong literacy, experiential learning, connection to the Antioch community, and helping students see the possibilities available to them after high school.

Middle school is an important bridge between the foundational learning of elementary school and the greater independence students will experience in high school.
Across KIPP Nashville middle schools, students engage in rigorous coursework that includes Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Students are encouraged to think critically, participate in meaningful discussions, work both independently and collaboratively, and develop confidence in their ideas.
At KIPP Antioch Global Middle, literacy is a particular area of focus. From the school’s founding, its leadership has emphasized helping students become strong readers so they can continue accessing increasingly challenging material and keep future educational opportunities open.
The goal is to help students build knowledge while developing the independence, communication skills, and learning habits they’ll need as they move toward high school.

Not all meaningful learning happens while sitting at a desk.
Experiential learning was established as another priority when KIPP Antioch Global Middle was founded. The school aims to give students opportunities to expand their understanding of the world and see where their learning can take them.
These experiences can help students connect what they’re studying to larger questions, interests, communities, and possibilities.
For middle school students who are beginning to think more deeply about their identities and futures, learning experiences beyond traditional classroom instruction can also provide opportunities to discover new interests and imagine paths they may not have considered before.
Students are experiencing significant social and personal growth during grades 5–8. Feeling connected to their school community can make those changes easier to navigate.
KIPP Antioch Global Middle uses Team and Family to describe everyone involved in the school, including students, staff, parents, and guardians. The idea reflects a shared responsibility for working toward the school’s mission and supporting one another along the way.
The school’s culture also encourages students to become active problem-solvers. When there is a problem, students are encouraged to look for a solution. When they need help, they should ask for it. And when another member of their community needs support, they are encouraged to offer it.
These expectations help students develop greater independence without expecting them to navigate middle school alone.

Middle school gives students more opportunities to discover what they enjoy outside their core academic classes.
Across KIPP Nashville middle schools, enrichment opportunities can include choir and band alongside athletics and after-school activities. Sports offered across the network can include soccer, track, cross country, basketball, and cheerleading.

A campus tour is a good opportunity for students to ask about the activities they’re most interested in.
KIPP Antioch Global Middle was created to be more than a school located in Antioch. Its founding vision emphasized becoming part of the community.
Founding Principal Merisa Marsh described a goal of building a community school that celebrates and learns from Antioch’s history while developing authentic relationships with families and the surrounding community.
That local connection is an important part of the school’s identity as it continues to grow.
Students have an opportunity to learn within a school community that values where they come from while encouraging them to explore how far their interests, education, and goals might take them.
Middle school students don’t need to know exactly what they want to do after graduation. They do need an education that keeps possibilities open.
From its founding, KIPP Antioch Global Middle has emphasized helping students develop an identity that makes college a possible future choice without assuming college will be the right path for every student. The goal is to provide an education that allows students to make that decision for themselves when the time comes.
Throughout grades 5–8, students can begin building the skills they’ll need for high school: managing increasingly challenging coursework, communicating their ideas, working independently, collaborating with others, asking for help, and taking greater responsibility for their learning.
When students reach high school, KIPP Nashville’s KIPP Forward program adds individualized college and career planning to that foundation.
KIPP Antioch Global Middle shares its 917 Bell Road location with KIPP Antioch Global Elementary School and KIPP Antioch Global High School. Together, the schools create KIPP Nashville’s first campus designed around a K–12 pathway.
