Senior year. The final stretch of the long journey through high school. Nervousness is all that I feel as the year is beginning, because I simply do not know what to expect. There is prom, graduation, and signing day. Three very exciting things happening during senior year that every student wants to experience.

I recently got measured for my cap and gown. Ms. Pippen, our Dean of College Counseling, called me to the hall and told me to hop on a scale and then put my back against the wall. As this was happening, I thought to myself, “This must be something for P.E.”!
Little did I know, I was being measured for the most exciting things ever.
There is also one huge step that we have to take as seniors in the first semester: applying for college. This task sounds like a simple thing to do, yet it is a task that fills my stomach up with butterflies.
Will I or will I not get accepted to this school or that school is all that comes to my mind when I think about applying for colleges.
Applying to college seems scary, but I know that it is what will determine where I will be for the next four or more years of my life in order to set myself up for success.
But apart from this nervousness I feel, I also feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment for being able to make it this far in life. I feel grateful to have had many supportive teachers throughout the past years to support me, and I am excited to see what this year has in store.
