ARTS THAT STOKE A PASSION

The arts positively impact social-emotional learning, academic outcomes, and college persistence.

KIPP Nashville is strengthening and expanding a Performing & Visual Arts program throughout our network of schools including dance, theater, musicals, choir, jazz band, and marching band. The caliber of each presentation and performance increases as each year goes by and we will continue to invest in these programs so more schools can offer elite performing arts opportunities.

More than Music

Dear Ms. Howard,

I just wanna say how grateful I am to be a part of KIPP Global’s Mighty Harmonic Huskies, and how everyday I get the opportunity to learn and play with some of the most talented and hard working individuals that Kipp has to offer. Growing up, I never really had much growing up, and my mom sadly passed away on July 23, 2023 and her passing put me in a really dark place. When I first started going to afternoon practices, I noticed right away how diverse, and how supportive everyone was, and that brought me out of that dark place. Needless to say, I was inspired not just by my friends to work hard, but I was inspired by everyone’s commitment, and the hard work that they show even when they have their own problems, or when they find it hard to show up to practice. I will be forever grateful for the new connections that I have made throughout my time as a bass drum player, and I hope to continue to grow as a percussion player, and to see others excel at their instruments. I am so proud of everyone that is a part of the Mighty Harmonic Huskies, and hope to see you all next year when we all are able to play louder and better.

PERFORMING ARTS

  • MURAL COLLABORATION WITH CHEEKWOOD

At Cheekwood Estate & Gardens annual Día de los Muertos celebration, you may have caught a KIPP student creation of a mural that celebrates the rich traditions of Mexico and Latin America right here in the Nashville community. This added to an annual tradition of KIPP students contributing an artistic traditional altar that celebrates the significance of Día de los Muertos and honors loved ones who have passed. The experience provided students with an opportunity to celebrate and share their cultural heritage while developing teamwork, creativity, and artistic expression.

  • BEAUTY & THE BEAST MUSICAL
    WITH TPAC

As part of a continuing partnership with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) Disney Musicals in Schools, KIPP Antioch College Prep Middle and KIPP Antioch College Prep Elementary shared the musical and theatrical joys of Beauty and the Beast. Students donned costumes and rehearsed hours of choreography to present a fan-favorite musical, start to finish. The talent astounded audiences at both their spring performances and the 2026 Leaders & Scholars Breakfast.
