  • COMMUNITY THAT ENGAGES THE HEART

A KIPP education is not complete without community involvement – both student engagement in their surrounding communities as well as community investment in our students. It is KIPP’s honor to host community events including health fairs, family-fun events, and educational opportunities and participate in the cultural fabric of the city. We are also grateful for the support of local organizations providing internships, partnerships to expose students to opportunities, and investment.

  • TEAMSHIP
  • TEAMSHIP

Preparing students for the modern workforce is the mission of Teamship – a College Board sponsored internship and externship program that engages both teachers and students. To prep for offering the program, KIPP sent teacher Bridget Jones to a weeks-long training that set off our first year of engaging business and KIPP seniors in the shared experience. This year, KIPP students worked with local candle company MYRRH to help owner Jessica Johnson solve growth challenges. Their presentation offered new revenue avenue ideas and ways to streamline operations – each of which is currently producing results.

  • WINTER FAIR

In December, the Student Recruitment and Enrollment (SRE) team proudly hosted the 2nd Annual Winter Drive at our KIPP Global Campus, welcoming families from across the community. Nearly 600 families received free toys, books, coats, and essential resources, creating a meaningful and lasting impact during the holiday season.

  • URBAN LEAGUE OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE

KIPP students continued the 50+ year mission of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee – a national extension of the national organization headquartered in Nashville. Each semester, more than 30 KIPPsters engaged in educational enrichment programming, community service, and career enrichment opportunities.

POWER YOUTH

One KIPP Nashville rising senior – Nyari Greenlee – made the most of her Power Youth internship. Power Youth, a partnership with the Nashville Metro Action Commission, places students in career-focused internships. An aspiring cosmetologist, Nyari spent time with the Stratford High School Culinary, Mass Media, and Fashion Program honing her skills in real-world settings. Nyari shared that she has really enjoyed her culinary experience this summer during her Power Youth internship. She and her family are excited to return to KIPP Nashville Collegiate High School for her senior year!
