OUR FOUNDER
Proud, but not satisfied.
If you spend time at KIPP Nashville, you’ll likely hear me say this curious phrase. Not satisfied?
How is that possible? KIPP and its students
accomplish so much. How could we possibly not
be satisfied?
Here’s why: Satisfied invokes the idea that something is complete. Yet, when we look at the future of every KIPPster who walks the halls, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, each student is on their way to something more.
This past school year proved to be another banner year. Data show that our students continue a march toward impressive academic growth, recognized by:

All schools achieving a “5” TVAAS growth score

8 of 9 schools receiving an A or B letter grade from the state

95% average enrollment in postsecondary or training programs across the last three years
Our physical strategic footprint of ten schools in North, East, and South Nashville is now complete, paving the way for continued pursuit of an excellent and deep experience for every student. Greater academic achievement will always be the foundation; yet, we have an obligation to each student and their families to pursue so much more both inside and out of the classroom.
Our next frontier is increased opportunity in arts, athletics, and college-ready academics. These are the experiences that take the joy of learning and amplify it.
On the stages of performing arts, in the fields of athletic competitions, and at the podiums of competitive academics, students become more than just a student. They grow into a co-worker of integrity, a team member who exudes excellence, and a community member with character. Each of us carries the memories and lessons of that time in our lives. We are not complete without this chance to practice grit, celebrate one another, apply studies in the real world, and create vision for the future.
Every KIPPster deserves this kind of education: to grow, to work as a team, and to shine in all we do. The entire Nashville community makes this possible – and will continue to be a partner in this pursuit for decades to come.
Thank you for your investment in this work.
